I Used To Have A Brother

had a brother

How long does it take a heart to give up

I was sitting yesterday watching the baby rabbits play and remembered that I had a brother. It was the strangest thing.

I said it to myself and kept repeating, “I have a brother.” I think I was waiting for there to be some emotional response. Sadness? Curiousity? Anger?

I tried to feel something … anything.

Nothing came.

I have a brother. I have a blue dress. I have a guitar. The grass is green. 2 + 2 = 4 . Facts that mean nothing. Read more

Well we survived the night without incident.  Even the weather savant dude who shares my bed had a pretty uneventful night.  At least he did not wake me up with more weather predictions.

It rained.

And then it rained some more. Read more

Worms

Having been relegated to staying off my feet, I find myself in a very uncomfortable position of having to ask for help.

In case you have been living under a rock, or are busy watching reruns of Game of Thrones, Australia is getting hammered with 2 cyclones.  If I had to be anywhere in the world with people about to deal with 2 natural disasters at once, I would pick Australia hands down.  No-one has such a sense of team work when it comes to anything they face, as Australians do. They hitch up their pants and meet whatever is at hand, head on.  They are fearless and caring and always maintain a sense of humour.  I think it is because they don’t want people to worry, especially about them.  They’ll “be right.” Read more

It has been a tough few weeks for me on many many levels.  I am taking time, paying attention, accepting that the problems are mine to deal with and that there is an opportunity here for growth.  Life has taught me a lot.  If I have wisdom it is not because it has been gifted to me because of some superior intelligence.  It was learned from the many mistakes I made, because I am  as flawed a human being as anyone else.

I am in the middle of having to deal with something that I can no longer ignore, probably the most painful thing I have or ever will have to deal with.  It is something I have to do alone and the weight of it is impacting me spiritually, emotionally and physically.  This is healing at its most difficult, but it is also about standing up and speaking the truth – no matter the cost.
